Technical Editor (Tax Knowledge & AI Training)

Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

Applicants must meet at least one of the following:

  1. Credentialed tax professional:
    1. CPA, EA, JD, or LLM (preferred), or
    2. 5+ years of hands-on tax preparation, planning, or review.

AND must demonstrate:

  1. Strong writing/editing ability, especially in technical or educational content.
  2. Ability to read and interpret IRS publications, notices, and regulations accurately.
  3. Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and concisely.
  4. Comfort working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.

Strongly Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Audit, review, or quality-control experience
  • Teaching, CPE instruction, or tax training development
  • Prior work with tax research platforms (Checkpoint, CCH, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Experience creating educational content (courses, guides, outlines)
  • AI familiarity (prompting, structuring content, model review)

What You Will Be Doing

  • Updating and maintaining our Big Book of Taxes
  • Reviewing MAX-assisted content for technical accuracy
  • Creating nano-courses & Virtual Tax Update modules
  • Writing and editing technical articles and explanations
  • Building structured knowledge for MAX’s intelligence layer
  • Tracking tax law changes and integrating them into our content

Work Arrangement

  • Fully remote
  • Flexible hours
  • Part-time, full-time, or contractor roles available
  • Long-term ongoing work available for strong performers

Compensation

  • Competitive rates based on credential & experience
  • Senior Editors (EA/CPA/JD): $105K–$150K or $60–$110/hr
  • Mid-Level Editors: $70K–$105K or $40–$75/hr
  • Specialists: $50K–$70K or $25–$45/hr
