Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request that CountingWorks:
- Access personal information we maintain about you;
- Know the categories or specific pieces of personal information we have collected;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete certain personal information;
- Provide a portable copy of certain personal information;
- Explain certain ways we use or disclose personal information;
- Opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling where applicable;
- Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable; or
- Review or appeal a decision concerning a privacy request where required by law.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. The information requested for verification will depend on the nature and sensitivity of the request.
Where permitted by law, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may require appropriate verification of the agent's authority and your identity.
If You Are a Client of a CountingWorks PRO Customer
CountingWorks provides technology to tax, accounting, and other professional firms.
If you provided your information to a professional firm that uses CountingWorks PRO, that firm may control your information, and CountingWorks may process it on the firm's behalf.
For example, your tax professional or accountant may use CountingWorks PRO to store documents, communicate with you, manage your client record, or use MAX to assist with professional services.
If your privacy request concerns information maintained by your professional firm, you should generally contact the firm directly.
If you submit the request to CountingWorks, we may refer the request to the applicable firm or assist the firm in responding as required by applicable law and our agreements.
California Residents
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), where applicable.
These rights may include the right to:
- know what personal information is collected;
- access certain personal information;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of certain personal information;
- obtain information concerning certain disclosures;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information where applicable;
- limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information where applicable; and
- receive equal service and pricing without unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information
CountingWorks does not sell client tax, financial, accounting, or confidential professional information provided through CountingWorks PRO.
CountingWorks does not operate as a data broker selling Customer Data.
Certain privacy laws use terms such as "sale" and "sharing" more broadly than their ordinary meanings and may include certain advertising or tracking technologies.
Where CountingWorks engages in activity that legally requires an opt-out mechanism, we will provide the applicable choice.
Targeted Advertising and Tracking Technologies
CountingWorks may use cookies and similar technologies for purposes such as:
- authentication;
- security;
- website functionality;
- analytics;
- performance measurement; and
- understanding and improving our Services.
Where we use technologies that are considered targeted advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, a "sale," or "sharing" under applicable privacy law, we will provide legally required controls.
You may also be able to manage certain technologies through your browser or device settings.
Global Privacy Control
Where required by applicable law, CountingWorks recognizes applicable browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control ("GPC"), for the browser or device from which the signal is received.
The effect of a preference signal may depend on applicable law and the technologies being used.
Sensitive Personal Information
Certain CountingWorks PRO Services may process sensitive information on behalf of professional firms, including tax, financial, or other confidential information.
CountingWorks does not use client tax, financial, or accounting information provided by professional firms for unrelated behavioral advertising.
Where applicable law provides a right to limit particular uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information and that right applies to CountingWorks' activities, you may submit a request through this page.
MAX and Artificial Intelligence
When a professional firm enables MAX, MAX may process information authorized by that firm to provide AI-powered research, analysis, client intelligence, retrieval, recommendations, Skills, workflows, and other functionality.
CountingWorks does not sell Customer Data for the purpose of training public or third-party foundation AI models.

Requests Concerning AI-Processed Information
If personal information processed through MAX is maintained by CountingWorks directly, applicable privacy rights may be exercised through this page.
If MAX processed information on behalf of a professional firm, the firm may be responsible for responding to the request.
Depending on the request and applicable law, CountingWorks may assist the professional firm in accessing, correcting, deleting, or otherwise addressing information maintained through our Services.
Retention and Deletion
A valid deletion request does not necessarily require deletion of every record.
We may retain information where permitted or required for purposes such as:
- legal compliance;
- security;
- fraud prevention;
- accounting and transaction records;
- dispute resolution;
- exercising or defending legal claims;
- contractual obligations; or
- other purposes permitted by applicable law.
Information may also remain temporarily in backups or other systems before being deleted in accordance with our retention practices.

If applicable law gives you the right to appeal our decision concerning a privacy request, you may submit an appeal by contacting:

Please include "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line and information sufficient for us to identify the original request.
We will review and respond to applicable appeals within the period required by law.
